The morning’s keynote, given by Isabel Bardinet, CEO, European Society of Cardiology will provide a
starting point for the afternoon’s brainstorming session, where thirty Association
Leaders will discuss and debate key issues and investigate new operational and
business models for their organisations and membership.
Crucially, the Summit is an interactive problem-solving exchange,
especially designed and facilitated by Chris Elmitt of Crystal Interactive.
The association leaders will be
invited to identify the most pressing issues faced by their organisations
today, and then form discussion groups around the major themes. Groups will be invited to put forward proposals
to the room, gather feedback, and go on to revise or develop ideas to a further
stage.
The session uses collaborative
technology - wireless laptops linked together by special software that allows
anonymous and simultaneous long- hand input, and voting. This is much more than
a keypad and enables large groups to clarify issues, solve problems and create
new ideas together. The process is used
at the highest levels of thought leadership forums to bring new insights to old
problems.
Ultimately, the group will produce recommendations on tackling leadership issues for the benefit of all present and the wider association community: a blueprint for Association Leadership 2010 – 2015.
